The Alfa Romeo 90 is a four-door sedan that the car manufacturer Alfa Romeo produced from 1984 to 1987. The official model name is Alfa 90 .

history

From October 1984 the Alfa 90 replaced the Alfetta, which had been built since March 1972 . Like the Alfetta, the Alfa 90 also had a transaxle drive with a five-speed gearbox. The body was drawn at Bertone under the responsible designer Marcello Gandini .

Various engines from 100 hp were available: four-cylinder with 1.8 and 2.0 liter displacement and six-cylinder with 2.0 and 2.5 liter displacement. The most powerful version developed 156 hp and allowed a top speed of 205 km / h. Also available is the Alfa was 90 with one of VM Motori produced 110 horsepower 2.4 liter turbo-diesel .

The Alfa 90 had some special features:

A speed-dependent variable front spoiler should improve the road holding. As an option, Alfa Romeo offered an ABS braking system for the first time . There was a removable case underneath the glove compartment. The Alfa Romeo 90 was also very popular with the Italian police and the Carabinieri , as Alfa Romeo was a state company at the time.

In 1985, the Italian bodywork factory Carrozzeria Marazzi showed a station wagon version based on the Alfa Romeo 90. Series production did not materialize. The taillights come from the Fiat Uno .

successor

After almost three years and a production of 56,428 vehicles, production of the Alfa 90 ended in July 1987. The successor was the Alfa 164 developed in cooperation with Saab , Fiat and Lancia .
