Rabbit Hole is a 2010 American drama film directed by John Cameron Mitchell .

The film is based on the theater play of the same name from 2005. Author David Lindsay-Abaire adapted the play for the film and wrote the script.

action

Becca and Howie Corbett are a happy couple until their son Danny is killed in a car. The housewife Becca tries to find a new meaning for her life, this is made more difficult by her family members and friends, who actually only mean well to her. She finds comfort and distraction in the young comic book author Jason, who happens to be the man who drove the car that killed her son. Her husband Howie, however, is stuck in the past and seeks refuge with outsiders that Becca can no longer give him. The two are just drifting and making some dangerous decisions.

Awards

Nicole Kidman was at the Oscars in 2011 for an Oscar in the category Best Actress nomination. Kidman has also received nominations for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards , the Online Film Critics Society Awards , the Satellite Awards , the Screen Actors Guild Awards , the Sierra Awards, the Central Ohio Film Critics Association Awards, the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards .

In the latter, in addition to Kidman, John Cameron Mitchell was nominated for best director, Aaron Eckhart for best male leading actor and David Lindsay-Abaire for best screenplay.

Lindsay-Abaire also received a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards , as well as nominations for Dianne Wiest for Best Supporting Actress at the Satellite Awards and Aaron Eckhart for Best Actor at the San Diego Film Critics Society Awards .
