David Lindsay-Abaire

David Lindsay-Abaire (born November 30, 1969 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American screenwriter and playwright who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Theater in 2007 for his play Rabbit Hole .

Life

Lindsay-Abaire studied after school at Sarah Lawrence College and the Juilliard School . After completing his studies, he began his work as a playwright and published his first stage work, Fuddy Meers, in 1998, which was followed by numerous other plays. In 2007 he received the Pulitzer Prize for Theater for his play Rabbit Hole . In addition, he was nominated twice for the Tony Award 2009 for the musical Shrek - The Musical , on the one hand in the category Best Musical and on the other hand with the composer Jeanine Tesori in the category Best Original Music .

He also began working as a screenwriter in 2005 and made his debut in this category with the screenplay for Robots . He also wrote the screenplay for the film Inkheart (2008) based on the novel by Cornelia Funke and directed by Iain Softley .

Together with Jeanine Tesori he also wrote the screenplay for the 2010 by Tom McGrath staged CGI - animated film Megamind . 2010 was a film adaptation of Rabbit Hole by director John Cameron Mitchell with Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart in the leading roles.

In 2015 the horror film Poltergeist was released , for which he wrote the script.
