Back in the Day is an American crime film from the year 2004 . Directed by James Hunter , who also wrote the script with Michael Raffanello .

action

Reggie Cooper dies as a member of a street gang. He moves in with his divorced father, Benson, to escape the youth gangs who are active in his mother's neighborhood. Reggie meets paroled friend J-Bone. After his father dies, Reggie takes part in crimes again and hopes to avenge his father. He becomes involved in the murder of Pastor James Packer.

Reggie falls in love with Alicia Packer, the murdered man's daughter. He is faced with the decision of whether to betray J-Bone.

In the end it turns out that it was not Reggie who murdered the priest, but J-Bone, who also killed Reggie's father.

Reviews

Rotten Tomatoes called the film a "convincing crime drama" .

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was a "gangster drama with a majority of black actors" , which "hardly leaves any room for the idealization of ghetto existence" . The plot is "told quickly and roughly" .
