Nix to Lose (Original title: Nothing to Lose ) is a 1997 comedy film by director Steve Oedekerk with Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence in the lead roles.

action

The successful advertising salesman Nick Beam actually has everything that belongs to a happy and fulfilled life: a good and promising job, a house of his own and a beautiful and loyal wife. However, all of this is completely turned upside down when he comes home early one day and sees his wife Ann having sex with his boss PB in the bedroom. Completely frustrated, he sits behind the wheel of his car and drives off headless.

In this state, the small crook T-Paul joins him at a traffic light and tries to relieve Nick of his money with a gun. But Nick doesn't care, he accelerates and roars into the desert with the completely frightened T-Paul in the passenger seat. Only here does he stop and a scuffle ensues, as a result of which the two fellow sufferers get closer and become friends. For T-Paul, too, the attack was an act of desperation, with which the dismissed electrician wants to secure a living for his wife and two children.

In an alleged gas station robbery, they are watched by two crooks who do not allow the unequal duo to poach in their territory. They push Nick and T-Paul off the street, but they can escape the criminals first. Then both develop a plan that should benefit everyone. You want to break into Nick's advertising company and relieve PB of his cash reserves in the company safe. Nick would have his revenge and T-Paul would have the money he needed. The coup succeeds thanks to T-Paul's sabotage of the security technology. Nick also uses the opportunity to destroy PB's favorite sculpture from his valuable art collection and gives his boss his opinion via surveillance camera.

They then drive to a hotel, but do not notice that they are being followed by the two crooks. When Nick tries to get drunk in the bar, he meets Danielle, an employee of his company, who has long wanted to do his laundry for him. He goes to the room with her, but gets a crying fit. Instead, he calls Ann to confront her with her affair. Ann is now worried about Nick and explains to him about the observed tête-à-tête : In reality, Nick didn’t catch his wife, but her visiting sister with her fiancé having sex. Nick is overjoyed that everything is fine - but at the same time appalled by his break-in, which could cost him his career. He now wants to undo everything and seeks T-Paul. In the meantime he was attacked and tied up by the gangsters from the desert; the loot is stolen.

Together, Nick and T-Paul get the money back and deliver the crooks to the police. But when Nick asks for the money to be returned to save his life, T-Paul refuses because it would ruin his life. Nick disappears with the money, the two separate. When Nick is in the office the next morning, PB watches the surveillance film. But just at the moment when Nick comes into the picture, the tape shows a mistake: T-Paul, as a disguised maintenance specialist, manipulated the recording and thereby saved Nick's job.

They happily meet up with T-Paul's family in a park, where Nick and T-Paul revive their friendship. Nick tells T-Paul that his company is looking for a new alarm specialist and he recommended him.
