Dan Jinks

Dan Jinks (* in Miami ) is an American film producer . He won an Oscar for the film American Beauty in 2000 together with Bruce Cohen . In 2009 both were nominated again for Milk .

Life

Jinks studied at New York University Tisch School of the Arts and began his career in a New York theater. For Touchstone Pictures , Jinks produced the film Nix to Lose in 1997 , starring Martin Lawrence and Tim Robbins . He then worked as executive producer for the film The Bone Hunter .

Together with director and producer Bruce Cohen , Jinks founded the film production company The Jinks / Cohen Company . Together they produced the film American Beauty in 1999 , which won five Academy Awards with eight nominations at the 2000 Academy Awards . Including the award in the Best Film category for the best production. The film won other prizes at the Australian Film Institute Awards for best foreign film, at the BAFTA Awards for best film and the PGA Awards for best production.

Other films by the Jinks / Cohen Company included a. Down with Love - To the devil with love! starring Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor and Big Fish directed by Tim Burton , who was nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards.

Later, Jinks and Cohen focused more on TV series, including the Pushing Daisies series , which received eight Emmys and a Golden Globe nomination .

In 2008 the two achieved another great success with Milk , in which Sean Penn played the leading role. The film was nominated for a total of eight Academy Awards in 2009, one of which was again in the Best Picture category . There were also nominations for the BAFTA Awards and the PGA Awards. In addition, the magazine named New York Film Critics Circle Milk for Best Picture of the year.
