Martin Bregman

Martin Bregman (born May 18, 1926 , according to other information 1931 in New York City , † June 16, 2018 ) was an American film producer .

Life

Bregmann studied at Indiana University Bloomington and at New York University . He then worked as an insurance salesman and a post-club agent. Before moving to film production, Bregman worked as a personal manager for various actresses and actors. Bregman is considered to be the discoverer of Al Pacino , who played on Off-Broadway . Bregman helped him get his first major film role in 1971.

Bregman made his debut as a producer in 1973 with the film Serpico . The film drama Hundstage , shot two years later , was also created in collaboration with director Sidney Lumet . For this, Bregman was nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film . In 1979 he worked on The Seduction of Joe Tynan for the first time with the director, actor and screenwriter Alan Alda ; some more films followed, such as B. the successful comedy Four Seasons (1981). Bregman also produced several Russell Mulcahy films in the 1990s, including the 1994 comic book adaptation Shadow and the Curse of Khan .

Martin Bregman was married to actress Cornelia Sharpe for the second time . His first had two sons and the second had a daughter.
