8Ball & MJG

8Ball & MJG is an American hip-hop duo from Memphis , Tennessee . The two rappers met in 1984 at Ridgeway Secondary School.

Career

They made their first appearance in the rap scene in 1993 with the album Comin 'Out Hard . The album was successful and the group became known in the then emerging southern rap scene. Her subsequent albums in the 1990s including 1994 On the Outside Looking In and 1995 On Top of the World cemented her status as two of the best rappers on the southern scene. On Top of the World was particularly successful, ranked 8th on the Billboard 200 and was awarded gold .

Following those albums, 8Ball & MJG released solo albums, MJG's No More Glory album in 1997 and 8Ball's Lost in 1998. They reunited in 1999 to release their fourth album, In Our Lifetime as a group. A year later in 2000 their fifth album Space Age 4 Eva was released .

For their newer releases, they signed a contract with Bad Boy Records . Her first music album for Bad Boy Records, Living Legends , was awarded gold by the RIAA . Her second album on Bad Boy Records, Ridin High , was released in March 2007.

A commercial highlight of 8Ball & MJG was the song Stay Fly in 2005 together with Three 6 Mafia . This song climbed to number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 , the biggest hit from Three 6 Mafia, as well as 8Ball & MJG.

Today 8Ball & MJG have their own record labels. 8Ball founded the label 8 Ways Entertainment (decentralized at Koch Entertainment ), while MJG runs the label MJG Muzik .

In September 2007, 8Ball and MJG signed a contract with Real Talk Entertainment . 8Ball and Outlawz's EDI released the album Doin 'It Big , which was released on April 1, 2008. MJG released a solo album on April 29, 2008 called Pimp Tight .

In June 2008 the group announced that they had officially signed Grand Hustle with TI 's record label . Their eighth album as a group and their first on Grand Hustle is called Ten Toes Down and was released in May 2010. It reached number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 in its first week.
