Festróia
Festróia - Festival Internacional de Cinema de Tróia , also known as Tróia International Film Festival, is a film festival held annually in the Portuguese city of Setúbal . It specializes in films from countries that produce fewer than 30 feature films a year.
history
The festival first took place in 1985 on the Tróia peninsula . From the beginning, the Golden Dolphin ( Portuguese : Golfinho de Ouro) was awarded as the main prize of the international competition. In 1987, a Fipresci Prize from the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique film critics association was added. Since 1988 Festróia has been the only film festival in Portugal to be accredited by the international film producers association FIAPF - as a festival with a specialized international competition. This went hand in hand with the restriction of international competition to films from countries that produce fewer than 30 feature films per year. In 1989 the festival opened its film market “Filmerca”. In 1995 the festival moved to Setúbal and finally got another venue in Almada . In 2015 the festival did not take place for the first time due to a lack of financial support.
Today Festróia has several sections, including a competition for American independent films . Various other film prizes are awarded at the festival , such as a golden dolphin for a life's work.
