Hans Petter Moland

Hans Petter Moland (born October 17, 1955 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Moland studied film directing at Emerson College in the USA from 1974 to 1978 . During his studies he met his wife Elizabeth Pacini, who moved with him to Norway. They have three children but divorced in 1992. Today he is married to Maria Sødahl , with whom he also has three children. Moland initially worked as a commercial filmmaker. He has received several awards for his advertising films. In 1993 he made his debut as a film director with the film Secondløitnanten . His film The Beautiful Country with Nick Nolte , Tim Roth and Bai Ling took part in the 2004 Berlinale competition. His film A Man of the World with Stellan Skarsgård in the lead role was shown in the competition at the Berlinale 2010 . He had with Skarsgård previously worked together on two films in the film drama kjøtere Kjærlighetens , in 1996 the Norwegian Film Award Amanda won, and in the road movie Aberdeen . In 2019 Skarsgård also starred in his film Stealing Horses . The film was nominated in ten categories for the Amanda and won these awards for best film, best director, best camera, best male supporting role and best film music.

The film Hard Powder (Cold Pursuit) released in 2019, which is also the remake of his own work One by One , is Moland's first Hollywood film production.
