The lighthouse Tinsdal forms since 1900 as a rear light together with the lighthouse Wittenbergen as Unterfeuer the leading lights line Wittenbergen - Tinsdal on the Elbe in Hamburg district of cracks .

From 1899 to 1960 it was also part of the leading light line Billerbek- Tinsdal . The Billerbek lighthouse , which stood 730 meters away in Tinsdal above the old powder factory, was shut down in 1960.
