The lighthouse Tinsdal forms since 1900 as a rear light together with the lighthouse Wittenbergen as Unterfeuer the leading lights line Wittenbergen - Tinsdal on the Elbe in Hamburg district of cracks .

From 1899 to 1960 it was also part of the leading light line Billerbek- Tinsdal . The Billerbek lighthouse , which stood 730 meters away in Tinsdal above the old powder factory, was shut down in 1960.

The 42 meter high steel lattice tower is about 800 meters away from the Wittenbergen lower fire at 14  m above sea level. NN height. On June 17, 1927, the 56  m above sea level.
