The Norddorf lighthouse has, among other things, the functions of a cross-brand fire

Cross-brand lights in seafaring denote sector lights that shine across the course. With a middle sector they mark the area in which a course change is to be made. The outer sectors usually announce the imminent change of course with a different identifier . In connection with directional and guide lights, cross- mark lights also designate their usable areas, occasionally also dangerous sections of the fairway.
