Wittenbergen is located on the Lower Elbe and is part of the Rissen district of Hamburg .

Wittenbergen borders in the north on the town center of Rissen, in the east, upstream, on the nature reserve Falkenstein in Blankenese , in the south on the Elbe with a view of the Elbe island Neßsand and in the west, downstream, on the district Schulau of the town Wedel in Schleswig-Holstein .
Natural monuments
The Wittenbergen nature reserve is located in Wittenbergen , a 67 hectare area consisting of the highest Hamburg Elbe slope, an inland dune , an Eichkratt forest , a heather landscape and the Elbe meadows . The last natural beach in Hamburg continues from the Falkensteiner Ufer on the Wittenbergener Ufer .

Wittenbergen is the location of the red and white striped lower fire , the Wittenbergen lighthouse , which has been in operation since 1900 together with the upper fire , the Tinsdal lighthouse , 800 meters away .
Not far from it is the Wittenbergen-Strand pier , which is currently (2013) no longer used by ferries.
On May 19, 2008, the sandy beach between the lighthouse and the pier, which had been affected by shipping traffic on the Elbe over the years, was rehabilitated using the Rainbow method and bank reinforcements.

The open-air school Wittenbergen of the Hamburger Schulverein von 1875 e. V., which offers space for two school classes. The public camping site "ElbeCamp" is located on Falkensteiner Ufer 101, right next to the Elbe meadows.
