The International Film Festival "Golden Apricot" ( Armenian "Ոսկե Ծիրան» Միջազգային Կինոփառատոն , Woske Ziran Midschasgajin Kinoparaton, in scientific transliteration "Oske Ciran" Miǰazgayin Kinop'aṙaton) is a film festival in Yerevan , the capital of Armenia .

The festival took place for the first time in June 2004. The main initiator was the Armenian director Harutjun Chatschaturjan . The president of the festival is the Armenian-Canadian director Atom Egoyan . The name comes from the apricot , which is the national fruit of Armenia. The main prizes are the “Golden Apricot” and the smaller “Silver Apricot”. It has become a tradition that during the open-air opening ceremony in front of the Moscow Cinema in the center of Yerevan, a clergyman from the Armenian Apostolic Church consecrates baskets full of apricots, which are then distributed to the audience.

There are main prizes for the best feature film and documentary film, and since 2007 there has also been a FIPRESCI award (before that there was an Armenian film critic award). Armenian films from all over the world are shown in the “Armenian Panorama”. Since the genocide of 1915, a large part of the Armenian people has lived in the diaspora , especially in Lebanon, France and the United States. Since 2005, Taler has been awarded to internationally renowned directors for life's work. He bears the name of Sergei Parajanov , the greatest Armenian film director of all time.

In addition to the competition, there are other, mainly Armenian, current films, but also classics from film history. In 2007 the festival opened with the Italian film The House of Larks . Also because of the geographical proximity, many films from Iran, but also Turkish and Arab ones, are shown.
