Krzysztof Zanussi
Krzysztof Pius Zanussi (born June 17, 1939 in Warsaw ) is a Polish film producer and director .
Life
Zanussi initially studied physics in Warsaw from 1955 to 1959, and later philosophy in Krakow . He received his film training from 1960 to 1966 at the Łódź Film School . With his diploma film, Śmierć prowincjała , he was able to win international awards straight away. In 1969 he made his feature film debut with The Structure of the Crystal , followed by other films that often critically analyzed the present and highlighted social and individual conflicts. Zanussi also worked for television.
He teaches as a professor at the Silesian University in Katowice . In 1981 Zanussi directed Cezary Morawski as Pope John Paul II in the international production From a Distant Land , while ten years later he took on Maximilian Kolbe's fate in life for life .
In 2001 he won the Polish Film Award in the categories of Best Film and Best Screenplay for his drama Życie jako śmiertelna choroba przenoszona drogą płciową . Four years later, Zanussi's drama Persona non grata , which won the Polish Film Prize four times, was also popular with critics .
