Michael Schmid-Ospach
Michael Schmid-Ospach (born August 29, 1945 in Heidelberg ) is a German journalist and former managing director of the North Rhine-Westphalia Film Foundation .
Life
Schmid-Ospach studied German and psychology at the University of Cologne . After graduating, he became head of the feature pages of the Westdeutsche Rundschau in Wuppertal. Subsequently, he was initially deputy head of the church and radio editorial team of epd , media policy advisor to the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Heinz Kühn , spokesman for ARD and held various positions within WDR , such as deputy television director . In addition, he worked from 1998 to 2001 as a presenter for the ARD program Kulturweltspiegel .
On March 17, 1999, he was unanimously elected director of Radio Bremen , but had to resign on April 5, 1999 for health reasons.
From 1992 to 2001 he was chairman of the supervisory board of the Filmstiftung NRW during the tenure of the then managing director Dieter Kosslick . He took over his office when Kosslick became director of the Berlinale in 2001 . In addition to this activity, he was a member of the FFA administrative board , the ZDF television council and the Franco-German film academy . Schmidt-Ospach left the Filmstiftung at the end of March 2010 and retired. For a short time, he acted as the founding managing director of the AV-Gründerzentrum NRW in Cologne, which is heavily subsidized by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .
