Kulturweltspiegel was a cultural program that was broadcast in Das Erste from 1983 to 2006 .

The magazine was initially 45 minutes long, but was shortened to half an hour in 1991 when the time slot was moved from Tuesday to Sunday. In 2006 the three ARD cultural programs Kulturweltspiegel , Kulturreport and ttt - titel, thesen, temperamente were merged and merged into the latter.

concept

The program arose from the idea of using the existing network of ARD foreign correspondents to report not only on political, but also on cultural topics. The concept envisaged showing the connections between the two areas in order to analyze cultural forms of expression in their political context. According to the correspondent staff, the focus was on the metropolises and other European countries, but little-known cultural scenes in the developing countries were also presented. The topic was later expanded to include cultural and political developments in Germany.

Moderation

The show was moderated by:

After Michael Schmid-Ospach, Else Buschheuer was supposed to moderate the show, but she only moderated one program before she was replaced by Michaela Maxwell. After Michaela Maxwell-Haas left WDR in 2004, it was broadcast unmoderated.
