Paolo Taviani (born November 8, 1931 in San Miniato , Italy ) and Vittorio Taviani (born September 20, 1929 in San Miniato, Italy, † April 15, 2018 in Rome ) were two Italian film directors who, until Vittorio's death in 2018, always as Brother couple have occurred.

Life

Paolo Taviani studied in Pisa. Vittorio Taviani first studied law in Pisa . In 1962, the brothers made their debut with a short film under the influence of Roberto Rossellini .

Their first independent film together was I sovversivi (The Subversives) from 1967, in which, among other things, the events of 1968 were anticipated. In April 2018, Vittorio Taviani died in Rome after a long illness.
