Godfrey Reggio (born March 29, 1940 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American director , screenwriter and film producer . He is best known for his work on the Qatsi trilogy, in which extraordinary recordings of nature are combined with the music of the composer Philip Glass .

Life

Reggio spent 14 years in a Christian Brothers monastery . He worked in New Mexico as a teacher and social worker and was a co-founder of several social organizations. He cooperated with the American Civil Liberties Union, among others . In 2006 he took part in the Stock Exchange of Visions project .

Reggio was best known for the films in the Qatsi trilogy: Koyaanisqatsi (1983), Powaqqatsi (1988) and Naqoyqatsi (2002).
