Anders Østergaard (* 1965 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a Danish film director and screenwriter .

Life

Anders Østergaard focuses exclusively on the documentary film genre . In addition to documentaries for the cinema, he also makes documentaries for television, the majority of which are based on scripts he has written. In 2006 he was awarded the Erik Ballings travel grant for his contribution to the Danish film, which includes prize money of 50,000 kroner. His most successful work to date is the film Burma VJ - Reports from a closed country about the country of Burma, produced together with Lise Lense-Møller . For the film, Østergaard was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 for best documentary, which ultimately went to The Bay .
