Ronnie del Carmen
Ronaldo "Ronnie" del Carmen (born December 31, 1959 in Cavite , Luzon ) is a Filipino animator , film director , screenwriter , illustrator and comic book writer who lives and works in the United States .
Life
Ronnie del Carmen was born in 1959 in the province of Cavite on the largest of the Philippine islands, Luzon. He studied at the Pontifical and Royal University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Manila , where he obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in advertising art.
Filmmaking
In 1989 del Carmen moved to the United States and worked as a storyboard artist until the mid-1990s for Warner Bros. Animation on the television series Batman, among others . In the late 1990s he worked for DreamWorks Animation as a story supervisor on the feature film The Prince of Egypt, among other things .
In the summer of 2000, del Carmen joined Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville , California , where he worked as a story supervisor on the 2004 Academy Award- winning film Finding Nemo . He worked as a production designer on the Oscar- nominated short film One Man Band and wrote the story for Ratatouille , which won several awards at the 2008 Academy Awards. Del Carmen worked as story supervisor on Pixar's tenth full-length computer-animated film, Oben , which won two awards at the 2010 Academy Awards . He made his directorial debut with the short film Dugs Special Use , which was released on DVD and Blu-Ray together with Oben .
For 2015, the Film Festival in Cannes presented and 2016 at the 88th Academy Awards Oscar-winning Pixar movie Inside Out wrote del Carmen, the story and, together with Pete Docter directed.
illustrator
Del Carmen worked with Bruce Timm , Paul Dini and others on the Batman Adventures Holiday Special , for which they won the 1995 Eisner Award for Best Single Edition. He also worked on Dark Horses Aliens series Mondo Pest and in 2002 on Batman Black and White Vol. 2 for DC Comics . He also self-publishes his stories in his paper biscuit comics, which are about Nina, a dream-walking adventurer and social outsider.
In addition to his work on feature and short films, he contributed his artistic talent as an illustrator to the children's book My Name Is Dug from 2009 by Kiki Thorpe.
Private life
Del Carmen is married and has two children. He has two brothers who also work in animation: Louie is a storyboard artist at DreamWorks, while Enrique ("Rick") works as a storyboard artist and assistant director at Fox Animation .
