Lambert Wilson (born August 3, 1958 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French actor and baritone .

Life

From 1974 to 1978, Wilson trained as an actor at the Drama Center London . He had one of his first roles in Louis' Close Encounter with the Aliens in 1979 . He then starred in several French films such as La Boum 2 - The Fete Continues with Sophie Marceau . In 1985 he was nominated for a César for the first time . Five more nominations should follow to date, most recently in 2011 for his leading role in Von Menschen und Göttern . In 1990 Lambert Wilson was awarded the Jean Gabin Prize . Wilson played predominantly in French films, among his few Hollywood films are among others At the Edge of the Abyss (the last film by Fred Zinnemann ), Sahara - Adventure in the desert , Catwoman as well as Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions .

In addition to acting, Lambert Wilson also works as a singer. The trained baritone recorded two classic albums. He is an ideal cast in the musical Candide by Leonard Bernstein at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris in three roles. Speaking French, he embodies Voltaire ; Dr. Pangloss and Martin he speaks and sings in English. He plays one of the leading male roles in Xavier Palud's action thriller The Blind Man .

His father Georges Wilson (1921-2010) was also an actor.
