Reviews
- "The adventure film, which is rich in show values but not particularly dramatic, does not save on Bedouin extras, riders and animals, but beyond that it cannot prove why it has to exist." (Rating: 1½ stars = moderate) - Adolf Heinzlmeier and Berndt Schulz in lexicon "Films on TV" (extended new edition). Rasch and Röhring, Hamburg 1990, ISBN 3-89136-392-3 , p. 697
- Ned Daigle wrote in "Bad Movie Night" that "Sahara" was his favorite example of a bad movie. Such productions ridiculed as "garbage" would explain why the production company Cannon Films went bankrupt in the 1980s.
- TimeOut magazine wrote that the film was not as bad as one might expect. Brooke Shields could have portrayed more than a beautiful face with a better script, but the script is bad.
Awards
Brooke Shields received the Golden Raspberry in 1985 . She was nominated for another Golden Raspberry.
