Mitchell , alternate title Mitchell , is an American action film from 1975 directed by Andrew V. McLaglen .
action
The seedy Walter Deaney shoots a burglar in his house - allegedly in self-defense. The investigation is carried out by the taciturn, beer-loving cop Mitchell, who is sure that Deaney did not tell the truth about the burglar. Mitchell's boss instructs Mitchell to leave Deaney alone and instead monitor James Arthur Cummings alone, who is involved in criminal activities in Mexico, around the clock. Mitchell realizes he should be kept out of the Deaney case and secretly breaks into Deaney's house. He is surprised by the homeowner and escapes when Deaney shoots him. Only now does his superior make it clear to him that Deaney has long been monitored by the FBI .
Realizing that Mitchell is monitoring him, Cummings only learns from him that he is allegedly involved in a major drug deal. Cummings finds out that Salvatore Mistretta, the cousin of drug lord Tony Gallano, is trying to deliver a large shipment of heroin to his port without his consent. To be kept out of the matter, Cummings refuses to give his port for the deal. Meanwhile, Mitchell receives a visit from luxury call girl Greta. Both spend the night together, even if Greta Mitchell refuses to reveal who is paying her.
A meeting between Cummings and Gallano is inconclusive, as Cummings continues to refuse to receive the heroin shipment. Gallano threatens him because he only got influence in the area for certain favors. Cummings is now trying to get Mitchell out of the way. However, he survived both a traffic accident and an attack by two thugs not far from his home. Greta, who still refuses to tell him who she works for, is arrested when he finds a bag of marijuana in her belongings . He eventually finds out that Greta was paid by Deaney. He wants to win him as a middleman in dirty property purchases, but Mitchell refuses because he wants to continue arresting Deaney for the murder of the burglar. Deaney and Cummings collude to get Mitchell out of the world together.
Cummings offers Mitchell to deliver Deaney to him. In reality, he lures him into a trap: Mitchell is chased by two vehicles in the open. He can kill one of the drivers and get into a vehicle himself. So he chases Deaney, who drives the other car, until Deaney has an accident and dies in the explosion of his car. Only now does Cummings offer Mitchell a deal. He tells him about the planned drug delivery and the delivery modalities, so the drugs are to be delivered in a piece of hand luggage that an initiated chauffeur is supposed to bring to Mistretta. Cummings is now supposed to take over the role of the chauffeur and so not only take over the drugs, but also get free access to Mistretta's house. Mitchell agrees. He realizes late that Cummings has secretly exchanged the drugs for lime and Mistretta also knows that he is a police officer. In a shootout, Mitchell manages to kill Mistretta and his men. In a helicopter he flies to Cummings, who is already on the sea route to Mexico by speedboat with his assistant Benton and the drugs. Mitchell can rappel from the helicopter onto the boat and kill Benton. Cummings pretends to hand over the drugs and his gun to Mitchell. Before he can draw a second hidden weapon, Mitchell shoots him.
Mitchell returns to his apartment where he meets Greta. She wants to stay with him even if her employer is dead. Mitchell can smell that she was smoking marijuana again. When he finds the marijuana bag in the kitchen garbage can, he arrests the surprised Greta again.
