Early life

Linda Evans was born in 1942 as the second of three daughters to the couple Arlene (née Dart; 1917–1969) and Alba Evanstad (1904–1958) in Hartford , Connecticut . Her parents were both professional dancers and are of Norwegian descent. When she was six months old, the Hartford family moved to North Hollywood .

Career

Young Linda Evanstad attended Hollywood High School, where she took acting classes to heal herself from her shyness. When she started her professional career, she changed her last name to "Evans".

Linda Evans became known through the western series Big Valley . This was followed by a few television films, until her breakthrough came in 1981 as Krystle Carrington in the successful television series The Denver Clan . Her German dubbing voice was Gisela Fritsch . She played the role of Rose Sinclair in the 1985 television series Torches in the Storm .

After the Denver clan fell , Evans largely turned away from acting and started a gym company in 1992. At peak times, she owned up to 15 gyms.

Private

Evans was married to actor and director John Derek , future husband of Bo Derek , from 1968 to 1974 ; then from 1976 to 1981 with Stan Hermann . Both marriages remained childless. She was in a relationship with the Greek composer Yanni for several years. She now lives in Tacoma , Washington .

Linda Evans, like Shirley MacLaine, is a follower of the new religious movement around the so-called divine spirit being Ramtha , as whose medium JZ Knight has appeared since 1978. Critics refer to Knight as a manipulative "cult leader" and Ramtha as a fraudulent construct for making money.
