Jerry Hardin

Jerry Waynn Hardin (born November 20, 1929 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American actor .

Life

After graduating from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Hardin received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London through the Fulbright program . After a few years at the theater , his film and television career began in the late 1950s. He made his film debut in 1958 in an uncredited role in The Last Ride To Memphis, starring Robert Mitchum and Gene Barry . In 1960 he starred in two productions of William Shakespeare's drama Henry IV on Broadway . It was not until the mid-1970s that Hardin established himself as a popular guest actor in television series. In 1982 he had his first major film role in Clint Eastwood's Honkytonk Man , and the following year he starred in the Stephen King film adaptation of Cujo . Until the mid-2000s, he starred in several successful Hollywood productions . However, he was best known among television audiences for his portrayal of Deep Throat in the science fiction series The X-Files - The Uncanny Cases of the FBI between 1993 and 1999. In Spaceship Enterprise: The Next Century , he placed 1992 in the Cliffhanger double episode of the fifth and sixth season Samuel Clemens / Mark Twain . He was also from 1986 to 1992 as prosecutor Malcolm Gold in LA Law - star lawyers, tricks, trials .

Hardin has been married to the acting teacher Diane Hardin since 1959, whose students included Leonardo DiCaprio and Hilary Swank , among others . His daughter Melora Hardin is also an actress, and his son works as a producer for NBC .
