Yoram Globus ( Hebrew יורם גלובוס; * 1941 in Tiberias , Palestine ) is an Israeli film producer .

Life

Together with his cousin Menahem Golan (1929-2014), he took over the film production company Cannon Films in 1979 . Together they were among the most important independent film producers. The two had previously worked in the film business in Israel since the 1960s. Globus produced films that were directed by Golan, including Operation Thunderbolt from 1977. This was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign language film the following year .

In 1984 (worst film for Hercules ), 1987 (worst film for Die City-Cobra ) and 1988 (worst film for Tough Men Don't Dance ) he and Menahem Golan were each nominated for the Golden Raspberry . In 1988 they were both nominated for the film Tough Men Don't Dance at the Independent Spirit Awards .

After the insolvency of Cannon Films, Globus and Golan parted ways and Globus led the company Globus-United in Israel, which also owns a cinema chain. He also worked as a film producer until the 2000s.
