action

Lincoln Hawk is a lonely truck driver who makes some cash through arm wrestling competitions. Although he has a wife and a son, he left them alone at an early age due to problems with his wealthy father-in-law. His twelve-year-old son Michael is sent to a cadet institution by his grandfather .

When his ex-wife, Michael's mother, fell seriously ill, she asked Lincoln to spend time with their son so that he could be taken in in the event of their death. When she dies shortly afterwards during a heart operation, her very rich father wants to prevent his grandson from growing up with Hawk, whom he considers to be an uncouth loser.

Because Michael has a lot of fun in the short time together with his father and he manages to get through to Michael, Michael decides to live with his father, although he could have lived a carefree life with his grandfather. This turn is mainly due to the fact that Mike finds out that his grandfather has not told him the truth about his father for all these years and has also cut off contact with him. Michael travels to Las Vegas to find and support his father at the World Cup. After Hawk won the World Arm Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas , he also had the financial means to take care of his son. In addition to the prize money of USD 100,000, he wins a brand new truck worth USD 250,000, on which he screws the hood ornament in the form of a silver falcon from his old truck. Hawk is a clear underdog and has a size handicap over almost every other contestant, including old rival Bull Hurley who is the clear favorite of the other 500 contenders. When he arrives, he sells his truck for $ 7,000 and uses the money to make a bet on himself (odds 20: 1). Which in the end results in a profit of $ 140,000 as he can finally beat his old rival in the final. The film ends with a conversation between Hawk and Michael in front of the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, in which the two agree on the name of their new company, Hawk & Son .
