Popsicle ( Hebrew אסקימו לימון Eskimo Limon ) is an Israeli fictional film from 1978. It is a dosed mixture of coming-of-age film and comedy , although the humor predominates. For other films of this type, the term teenage clothes was later coined. Due to the great success, a number of sequels were shot, which also have the title Eis am Stiel , each with a different subtitle.
action
The three friends Benny , Johnny and Momo grow up in Tel Aviv in the late 1950s. Her greatest passions are girls, parties and the hunt for sexual experiences.
Benny is chronically in need of money, but luckily his overweight pal Johnny regularly lends him something. Benny also works as an ice cream seller. During one extradition he meets the nymphomaniac Stella who tries to seduce him. Benny initially does not respond to their offers, but immediately tells Johnny and Momo about this experience. The three friends visit Stella the same day and Benny hasn't promised them too much. Surprisingly, Stella's friend Jimmy, a strong sailor, suddenly rings and catches the protagonists in the act. The friends then flee the apartment, some of them half-naked.
A little later the three boys end up with a prostitute from whom they catch pubic lice . After the treatment with insecticide does not work, they make themselves up to visit a pharmacy. An embarrassing scene ensues, as nobody really dares to speak out about the problem. Ultimately, however, the pharmacist understands what the problem is and sells the boys the remedy that will put an end to their suffering.
The core of the story is Benny's love for Nili. To get to know her, he secretly lets the air out of her bicycle tire and then offers her a ride on his bicycle. But Nili is interested in Benny's best buddy and heartthrob Momo. After Momo gets her pregnant and breaks up with her, there is a heated argument between her best friends. Benny then takes care of the desperate Nili and organizes and pays for an abortion . While the other teenagers are at summer camp , Nili and Benny live for a while in a house belonging to Benny's uncle, who is away from home. Benny confesses his love to Nili and it seems like he has captured her heart. In the final scene, however, he finds Nili in Momo's arms. The film ends with a hugely disappointed Benny.
