But after she has collected and saved all the information, she falls into the hands of a gang of looters and their sadistic leader Fender Tremolo. Fender has built an empire of terror with his people and now fears for his power. Because in a healthy society one would not tolerate his murderous terror under any circumstances. He wants the drug for himself to consolidate his position of power, but the slinger Gibson Rickenbacker, whose family was brutally murdered by Fender and his men, is hot on his heels to free the cyborg and thus the cure for to save humanity.

Together with Nady Simmons, he fights them until the showdown in Atlanta. There Nady is killed, but Gibson manages to eliminate his adversary Fender and his pirate friends with their help. Remarks

  • The film cost $ 500,000 and was filmed over 23 days in Wilmington, North Carolina.
  • The film grossed $ 10,166,459 at the box office.
  • For the crucifixion scene, Jean-Claude Van Damme had to endure eight hours on the cross until this scene was completely shot.
  • Van Damme was sued by his cinematic opponent Jackson Pinckney for payment of US $ 500,000 in 1994. He had seriously injured him with a knife in an attack scene during filming. Pinckney lost his left eye in the process. Van Damme described the incident in court as an unfortunate accident. Pinckney was awarded $ 485,000.
  • Cyborg is a utilization of costumes, backdrops and material that has already been filmed from the filming of Spider-Man and the sequel to Masters of the Universe, actually planned by the production company Cannon Films at the time . Due to a lack of payments to Marvel and Mattel, the rights to the two franchises were lost and both productions were canceled. In order not to completely lose the investments already made, a cyborg was turned with the available means . For this reason, Cyborg was sometimes shown on US television under the incorrect title Masters of the Universe II: The Cyborg .
  • Due to the escalating and extremely violent clashes, the film was only released in abridged form in the FSK-18 version before the MGM DVD was released. Broadcasts on free TV were always censored in such a way that the net playing time was only 60 minutes, as almost every scene of violence was removed.
  • On October 2, 2003, the film was released for the first time in full with an SPIO / JK approval in Germany. The indexing was lifted at the end of February 2012.
  • In December 2013 the Director's Cut was released on BluRay, which was previously only available from the director directly and was available as a VHS master. The combination with the theatrical version results in a completely new film version with constant quality fluctuations with an FSK-16 approval. In addition, a complete new synchronization was made.
  • The film names are brand names or terms from the musical instrument sector ( Gibson , Rickenbacker , Fender , Tremolo , Marshall , Strat , Pearl etc.)
  • Born in New Zealand, Vincent Klyn has worked as a photo model and professional athlete (skateboard and surf professional) for many years.
  • Ex-bodybuilder Ralf Moeller plays a supporting role, but is listed as Rolf Muller in the opening and closing credits.

criticism

"An extremely questionable combination of the lowest fantasies of revenge and omnipotence with the" aesthetics "of repulsive scenes of violence."
