Chang Chen ( Chinese  張震 , Pinyin Zhāng Zhèn , born October 14, 1976 in Taipei ) is a Taiwanese actor. His father is the actor Chang Kuo-Chu ( 張國柱 , Zhāng Guózhù ).

Life

As early as 1990, Chang Chen was selected by the director Edward Yang for the lead role in the film Radiant Summer's Day (original title: 牯 嶺 街 少年 殺人 事件 ). His father played the role of the main character's father in the same film. In Ang Lee's film Tiger and Dragon (2000), Chang (at the side of actress Zhang Ziyi ) played the role of the bandit Luo Xiao Hu, known as the "Black Cloud". He also played a leading role in Wong Kar-Wai's film 2046 (2004). For his appearance in Tian Zhuangzhuang's film The Go Master (2006), Chang was nominated for the Golden Horse Award in the "Best Actor" category. In 2008, Chang starred as the warlord Sun Quan in John Woo's film The Battle of Red Cliffs .

In 2018 he was appointed to the competition jury of the 71st Cannes Film Festival .
