Patrick Vollrath
Patrick Vollrath (* 1985 in Eisdorf am Harz ) is a German screenwriter and film director . In 2016 Vollrath was nominated for an Oscar for his short film Alles wird gut .
Life
In his youth, Vollrath attended the Tilman-Riemenschneider-Gymnasium in Osterode am Harz . He is still very connected to his homeland, the Upper Harz Mountains . From 2005 to 2008 Vollrath trained as a film and video editor at ARRI Film & TV in Munich . In 2008 Vollrath began a Bachelor's degree in directing at the Vienna Film Academy , where he studied with Michael Haneke . Vollrath completed his studies in 2015. His thesis was the film Everything will be fine . During his studies he was a. a. Taught by the well-known Austrian film director and screenwriter Michael Haneke. This accompanied Vollrath throughout his studies and was a great inspiration for his work.
Career
In 2011 and 2013 Vollrath took part in the Young Lions competition at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity . In 2013 he was a participant in the Talent Campus of the Berlinale . In 2015 Vollrath presented his film Alles wird gut in the context of the short film competition in Cannes. In 2016 Vollrath was nominated for an Oscar for his graduation film in the category Best Short Film, after he had already received the Student Academy Award in bronze, known as the Student Oscar, for the film in September 2015 . Vollrath made his feature film debut with the thriller 7500 , which was shown at the Locarno Festival in August 2019 .
