Luc Jacquet

Luc Jacquet (born December 5, 1967 in Bourg-en-Bresse ) is a French biologist and director .

For the film The 1993 Congress of Penguins, Pio Corradi introduced the biologist to the duties of a camera assistant without any film experience . Later Jacquet led in several animal documentaries for television directing , as in the 2004 as The Snake ( " Sous le signe du serpent "). He became known to a large audience in 2005 with the director and the script for the film The Journey of the Penguins , which was a global success and was awarded the "Oscar best documentary " at the 78th Academy Awards in Hollywood on March 5, 2006 .

In 2007, his second feature film, Der Fuchs und das Mädchen , came to the cinema .

In 2013, the secret of the trees was another nature documentary by Jacquet.

In 2017, a sequel to his film from 2005 with the title L'Empereur ("The Journey of the Penguin") followed.
