Masami Nagasawa ( Japanese長 澤 ま さ みNagasawa Masami ; born June 3, 1987 in Iwata , Shizuoka ) is a Japanese actress .

biography

On the recommendation of Tomoko Ikuta , she took part in the fifth Cinderella competition of the Toho film production studio in 2000 , which is intended to promote young talent. The twelve-year-old won the competition and was able to prevail against 35,153 other participants. She made her debut as an actress that same year with the role of Kaori Kurata in Shusuke Kaneko's horror film Pyrokinesis , in which she played alongside Akiko Yada and Hideaki Ito .

After supporting roles in several television series and the movies Nagoriyuki , Yomigaeri and Ashura no gotoku , she had her first leading role in 2003 in Tomoyuki Furumaya's tragic comedy Robokon . In it, she plays a schoolgirl who takes part in the construction of a robot because there are too few club activities. For this film, she was at the award ceremony of the Japan Academy Prize in 2004 with five other cast members as Best Young Actress Award and won on the Yokohama Film Festival in the category Best young talent . She also received the latter award for Ashura no gotoku .

Nagasawa, who also worked as a model for teen magazines and was seen as an elf in two Godzilla films in 2003 and 2004 , achieved her final breakthrough with the drama Sekai no chūshin de, ai o sakebu, based on a novel by Kyōichi Katayama in 2004 The multi-award-winning film directed by Isao Yukisadas grossed over 50 million euros in Japan. In it she plays a youngster dying of leukemia and won the Japanese Academy Award for Most Popular Actor and Best Supporting Actress as well as the Blue Ribbon Prize , the Hochi Film Prize and the Nikkan Sports Film Prize .

This was followed in 2005 by the role of Japanese high school student Minami Asakura in Touch , a film adaptation of the manga series of the same name by Mitsuru Adachi . In another comic adaptation based on Adachi, Rough , she also worked as the leading actress. It was released in Japanese cinemas in August 2006. For the film, Nada so so she was at the presentation of the Japanese Academy Awards 2007 as Best Actress nomination. Her film partner Satoshi Tsumabuki also received a nomination.
