Jean-Claude Pascal (born October 24, 1927 in Paris , France ; † May 5, 1992 there ; actually Jean-Claude Villeminot ) was a French fashion designer , actor and singer .

Life

After surviving the Second World War in Strasbourg , Pascal first studied law and economics at the Sorbonne in Paris. Then he worked as a designer for the fashion designer Christian Dior . He came into contact with acting through the design of costumes for the play Don Juan and made his first film Quattro rose rosse in 1949 , which was to be followed by many more, including 1959 The Beautiful Liar with Romy Schneider , in which he played the Tsar Alexander , Unter den Dächern von St. Pauli (drama, FRG 1970, directed by Alfred Weidenmann ) with Joseph Offenbach , Janie Murray u. a. or Angélique and the Sultan ( Angélique et le sultan , 1968) alongside Michèle Mercier .

In the 1960s, Pascal reduced acting and focused more on his career as a singer. In 1961 he won the Eurovision Song Contest for Luxembourg with the song Nous les amoureux . In 1981 he took part again for Luxembourg and came in 11th with the song C'est peut-être pas l'Amérique .

In the French television series Ich marie (k) a Millionär (1966) Jean-Claude Pascal starred alongside Marie-France Boyer in a leading role. This series was broadcast on ZDF in 1968 .

In the DEFA music film Die Chansonreise he played and sang in 1971 alongside Gerti Möller , Angelika Domröse and Gisela May .

As a chansonnier , Pascal sang in many languages, including German, and also appeared on German television, for example in the program Die Drehscheibe des ZDF or in the entertainment show Good Evening, Neighbors with Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff . His repertoire included songs by Jean Ferrat , Serge Gainsbourg , Charles Aznavour and Bernard Dimey , which were also published on his more than 50 records.

Jean-Claude Pascal was unmarried, a chain smoker and died of lung cancer at the age of 64 ; he is buried on the Cimetière Montparnasse in Paris.
