Louis Daquin

Louis Daquin (born May 30, 1908 in Calais , † October 2, 1980 in Paris ) was a French film director and screenwriter.

Life

After studying law, Louis Daquin came to film in 1932 and worked as an assistant to directors such as Fedor Ozep , Pierre Chenal and Jean Grémillon . In 1938 he was responsible for the dialogue direction of The Player . From 1941 he directed himself and manifested his political commitment as an avowed socialist with socially critical films. He also wrote the script for almost all of his films. Because of his recruitment, Lacombe found only a few directorships and was forced to a. to work in Romania and the GDR. Daquin also wrote books on film theory and was a lecturer at the IDHEC film school for several years .
