Sophie Garel

Sophie Garel (born April 22, 1942 in Oran , Algeria ; actually: Lucienne Garcia ) is a French radio and television presenter .

Garel, the daughter of a perfumer, began studying art history in Algeria, became an announcer for Télé Oran in 1960 and went to Marseille in 1961 , where she began her career as a French television announcer and presenter just one year later. In 1965 she presented at the radio station Europe 1 and then switched to RTL, where she was usually used as a co-presenter in the lunchtime or afternoon programs. She also moderated shows and quiz programs on RTL television as well as on TF1 , FR2 and Canal + .

In 1968 Garel represented the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as a singer in a duet with Chris Baldo at the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson in London and took eleventh place with the song Nous vivrons d'amour .

She is one of the longest-serving television presenters in France.
