Michèle Torr (born April 7, 1947 in Pertuis , Département Vaucluse ) is a French singer . Her best-known songs include the French top 10 hits J'aime (1977, a cover of the ABBA instrumental Arrival , with Jean-François Maurice ) and Lui (1980). Further successes were Dans mes bras oublie ta peine (1964), Ça pourrait être vrai (1971) and Emmène-moi danser ce soir (1978), Discomotion (1979), Midnight Blue en Irlande (1982) and À mon père (1983) .

Career

At the age of 17, Torr came to her first appearances at the Olympia in Paris in the autumn of 1964 - in support of Claude François . In the same year she had her first hits. In 1966 Torr took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for Luxembourg . With the song Ce soir je t'attendais , she landed in tenth place. Eleven years later, she entered the same competition with Une petite française for Monaco and reached fourth place.

Torr's charismatic feature is the rolled R, which is reminiscent of Édith Piaf . Since 1963 it has been publishing sound carriers at regular intervals, placing it in the middle to lower regions of the French charts . She celebrated her greatest successes in the 1970s with titles such as Une vague bleue , Emmène-moi danser ce soir , Discomotion or Lui from the pen of Jean Albertini and - in the case of the last two works - Didier Barbelivien .

In 1969, Torr also tried his hand at acting. The crime thriller Las joyas del diablo , however, was hardly noticed.

Even today, Torr still presents itself to its audience rather selectively. She prefers to choose the Paris Olympia as the venue, for example in 2002, 2005 and 2008. In each of the years mentioned, a DVD with recordings of the concerts was released.

In April 2015, Torr released a new studio album, Diva , with songs by Charles Aznavour , Alice Dona and Georges Chelon , among others .
