Sophie (singer)

Sophie (born October 9, 1944 in Dax as Arlette Hecquet , † October 28, 2012 in Paris ) was a French chanson singer and radio presenter .

She made her first experiences as a singer as a background singer with Johnny Hallyday . She received a recording deal with Decca Records , which spawned a few singles in the 1960s. From that time on she was also a radio presenter at Radio Monte Carlo . She was commissioned to represent Monaco at the Eurovision Song Contest 1975 in Stockholm . With Une chanson c´est une lettre she was voted 13th. In the 1980s she moved to RTL Télé Luxembourg as a program announcer.

She died on October 28, 2012 after surgery for an aortic aneurysm .
