Carl Espen , also Carl E. , (born July 15, 1982 in Bergen ; actually Carl Espen Thorbjørnsen ) is a Norwegian singer .

Life

Carl Espen grew up with his mother and two siblings in a musical family on Osterøy . He later served half a year as a soldier in Kosovo . On March 15, 2014, Carl Espen won the Melodi Grand Prix 2014 , the Norwegian qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest . Carl Espen represented Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with the song Silent Storm . He finished eighth in the final with 88 points. Ironically, the title could not place in the Norwegian charts, but for a week each in the German, Austrian, Swiss, Dutch and Danish.

His next single, Holding on , was released in August 2014 .
