Frans (singer)
Frans Jeppsson-Wall (born December 19, 1998 in Ystad , Skåne län ), known by his first name Frans , is a Swedish singer .
life and career
Jeppsson-Wall was born in December 1998 in Ystad in Skåne County . His Nigerian- born father, Mark Wall, is half British and half Nigerian and his mother is Swedish. Frans grew up bilingual ( English / Swedish ) and spent part of his life in London , where he also studied music for a year at the age of 15. He lives in Ystad.
In 2006 he made his breakthrough together with the Swedish rock band Elias . The soccer anthem Who's da Man , which is dedicated to soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimović , quickly reached number one in the single charts and stayed there for 13 weeks. In December of the same year Jeppsson-Wall published the song Kul med Jul . For the European Football Championship in 2008 he again cooperated with Elias and published the song Fotbollsfest , which also took first place and was intended to support the Swedish national football team .
Eurovision Song Contest
After a break of several years, Jeppsson-Wall returned to the music business in 2016 and took part in the Swedish preliminary round for the Eurovision Song Contest , the 2016 Melodifestivalen . With his song If I Were Sorry he prevailed against his competitors in the fourth semi-final on February 27th and qualified directly for the final on March 12th in the Friends Arena in Stockholm . The song reached number one on the download charts after its release and set a record for the most streams in one day in Sweden with more than 500,000 streams a day. The following week If I Were Sorry topped the Swedish singles charts . In the final round of the state decision, he prevailed against Oscar Zia and therefore represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. With this successful song, Frans Jeppsson-Wall finally achieved fifth place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 14, 2016 with 261 points.
