If I Were Sorry was written by Oscar Fogelström, Michael Saxell, Fredrik Andersson and the singer himself and released on February 28, 2016. On February 27, 2016, Frans took part in the fourth semi-final of the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , and won it ahead of Molly Sandén and the song Youniverse . He moved into the final, which took place on March 12, 2016. According to the jury vote, he finished second, one point behind Oscar Zia and the song Human . However, since he received the most calls in televoting, he was named the winner of the competition.
At the Eurovision Song Contest
Since Sweden had won the Song Contest last year, the country did not have to qualify for the final in the semi-finals, but was directly represented in the final.
