I Can't Go On ( English for I can't go on anymore ) is a song by the Swedish singer Robin Bengtsson . He represented Sweden with this song at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev ( Ukraine ) after winning the Swedish preliminary round Melodifestivalen 2017 on March 11, 2017.

I Can't Go On was written and produced by David Kreuger, Hamed "K-One" Pirouzpanah and Robin Stjernberg . David Kreuger and Hamed "K-One" Pirouzpanah were already involved in 2014 as the composer of the Swedish title Undo . Robin Stjernberg composed the Swedish title You , with which he represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö . On November 30, 2016, Robin Bengtsson was announced as one of a total of 26 candidates for the 2017 Melodifestival . In the third semifinals he qualified directly for the final on March 11, 2017 in Stockholm. In the final in the Friends Arena , he won the jury's vote with 96 points. In televoting reached third place and won the Melodifestivalen 2017 with 146 points ahead of the singer Nano, who achieved second place in the overall ranking with 133 points.

Robin Bengtsson represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev (Ukraine). He started with starting number one in the first semifinals. In the final, Robin Bengtsson came in fifth with 344 points.

I Can't Go On has a structure typical of pop music: the first verse is followed by the chorus, then the second verse, then the chorus again. After the second chorus, the bridge begins with a piano intermezzo and the last chorus, which contains some variations. The song has electronic elements , the main rhythmic characteristic is a clap - castanets - snap , which is later drowned out by a drum noise.
