The Melodifestivalen 2017 was the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev ( Ukraine ). It was the 57th edition of the competition organized by the Swedish broadcaster SVT . Robin Bengtsson won the final with the title I Can't Go On on March 11, 2017 and represented Sweden in Kiev. He reached fifth place in the final.
format
concept
For the fifteenth time, the semi-finals will take place in different locations in Sweden. There were 28 contributions, which were distributed over 4 semifinals, so that seven contributions were presented per semifinals. The audience decided in two voting rounds who qualified for the final and who was allowed to compete again in the Andra Chansen (German: Second Chance). In each semi-final, the first two entries with the most audience votes qualified directly for the final. Those contributions that took third and fourth place appeared a second time in the Andra Chansen program. There the candidates competed against each other in duels and whoever received the most votes from the audience qualified for the final. 12 performers appeared in the final.
The producer of the Melodifestival 2017 was Christer Björkman . On September 30, 2016 it was announced that Clara Henry, David Lindgren and Hasse Andersson would host the shows.
broadcasts
On September 6, 2016, SVT presented the dates and venues of the Melodifestival 2017. As in previous years, two of the four semi-finals will take place in Gothenburg and Malmö. As has been the case since 2013, the final was held in the Friends Arena in Stockholm. Växjö, Skellefteå and Linköping were the fourth venue for the Melodifestival.
