The Vida Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Swedish city ​​of Växjö . It is the home ground of the ice hockey club Växjö Lakers Hockey .

history

The arena was completed in late summer 2011 and inaugurated on September 17, 2011. It is part of the Arenastaden sports complex , which includes a football stadium and two halls for athletics and floorball .

The name sponsor is the Swedish forestry group Vida Group, which secured the rights in September 2010 for 14 years.

In addition to sporting events, a partial competition of the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , took place in the arena on February 4, 2012 . In 2017 the festival was a guest again.

The arena is connected to an older ice rink by a training hall. On the facade, LED lighting attached to the thin sheet metal shell ensures a constantly changing play of colors.

The building is 100 m long, 70 m wide and 20 m high. For the culinary supply there is a restaurant with 250 seats, five bars and six fast food outlets. There is also a lounge with 400 seats for companies, conference rooms, 27 boxes for 8 to 12 people, a television studio, a fitness center and administrative rooms. The parking garage has space for 80 vehicles.
