The Kinnarps Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Swedish city of Jönköping . The hall is the home ground of the HV 71 Jönköping ice hockey club from the highest Swedish league, the Svenska Hockeyligan .
history
The Kinnarps Arena is mainly used for ice hockey and handball games as well as concerts . HV 71 Jönköping has played its home games in the hall since it opened in 2001. The arena was one of the venues during the Karjala Cup in 2000 and 2005 and one of three venues for the 2002 Ice Hockey World Championship . The largest handball tournament in which the Kinnarps Arena served as the venue was the European Handball Championship in 2002 . At the 2011 men's handball world championship , it served as one of ten venues. In 2007 a semi-final of the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , took place in Jönköping.
Major renovations took place in 2004 when the arena was expanded by 1,000 seats and was extensively modernized. The arena is owned by HV71 Fastighets AB , a subsidiary of the HV 71 Jönköping ice hockey club.
