Mariette Petra Carola Hansson (born January 23, 1983 ) is a Swedish singer and songwriter who usually appears under her first name Mariette . She used the stage name MaryJet for a while . She gained fame primarily through her participation in the Melodifestivalen .

Life

Hansson grew up in Harplinge in the Halmstad municipality . In 1999, at the age of 16, she took part in the television program Sikta mot stjärnorna . In 2009 she took part in the casting show Idol , where she finished fourth. In 2010 she was voted homosexual person of the year ( Årets homo / bi ) at the LGBT magazine QX's Gaygalan event .

Hansson first took part in the Swedish Melodifestivalen competition in 2015 , through which the Swedish ESC contribution is selected. She moved into the final with her contribution Don't stop believing , where she came third. As a result, she served as the Swedish points spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna . In the same year she wrote the official song for the Swedish Pride events, namely the single My revolution . She also released the EP of the same name .

With the song A million years she took part in the Melodifestivalen 2017 , where she once again made it straight to the finals and took fourth place there. Your entry then won the OGAE Second Chance Contest , a competition organized by ESC fans, in which the best of the unsuccessful songs from the ESC preliminary rounds is to be chosen. The following year she reached fifth place at the Melodifestivalen 2018 with the song For You , after she had again been voted directly into the final. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 she was a member of the Swedish jury. In 2019 she took part in the music show Stjärnornas Stjärna , where Hansson managed to reach the final. There she was defeated by her only remaining competitor, Andreas Weise. In November 2019 it was announced that she would compete again at the Melodifestivalen 2020 , where she sang the song Shout it out . She managed again to move directly into the final, where she finally finished tenth with 51 points.
