Nova (Swedish band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nova was a Swedish pop duo consisting of Claes af Geijerstam (* 1946 in Norrköping ) and Göran Fristorp (* 1948 in Örebro ).

Under the name Malta they won the Melodifestivalen in 1973 with their title Sommaren som aldrig säger nej . Due to the risk of confusion with the island republic of Malta , the band name was changed to Nova . They then reached 5th place at the Eurovision Song Contest 1973 in Luxembourg with the title You're Summer , an English version of the song. The orchestra was conducted by Monica Dominique as the first ever female conductor in the history of the song contest.
