Yohio (real name: Kevin Johio Lucas Rehn Eires ; born July 12, 1995 in Sundsvall ) is a Swedish singer and songwriter . He is best known for his eye-catching visual kei style and outfits.

Career

Yohio started playing the piano at the age of six and switched to the guitar at the age of eleven. At the age of 14 he started playing guitar in the rock band Seremedy . In 2010 the band initially only played in their home country of Sweden before having several concerts in Japan in 2011. She also took part in the Japanese visual rock festival V-Rock Festival '11 in Saitama , where Yohio was asked to perform solo. In the Swedish media, Yohio has been described as a superstar with great success in Japan. In 2012 he was signed to Universal Music Japan and released his first EP Reach the Sky in Japan. His first CD, Break the Border , was released there in June 2013 and reached number 285 on the Oricon charts.

In 2013 Yohio took part in the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö. With the song Heartbreak Hotel he qualified on February 2nd for the final on March 9th, where he finally reached second place, but got the most points from televoting. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 he announced the Swedish award of points.

Yohio worked with the Japanese artist Gackt Camui . He also wrote a song for the Japanese visual kei band Velvet Eden .

Personal

Yohio is the son of the Swedish musician Tommy Rehn, who was a member of the metal band Corroded . Yohio speaks Japanese because of his great interest in Japanese culture and visual kei.
