The Clube Futebol Benfica , mostly simply called Futebol Benfica , is a Portuguese sports club from Lisbon . It is in no way associated with its neighbor Benfica Lisbon .

history

The origin of the club goes back to the Grupo Foot-ball Benfica founded in 1895, which reorganized as a club under a new name on March 23, 1933. The home ground Estádio Francisco Lázaro is located in the Benfica district and is named after the Olympic marathon runner Francisco Lázaro . The focus of the club's activities is on team sports such as soccer , hockey and roller hockey , as well as athletics and swimming .

The men's soccer team has played under-class since it was founded and is currently represented in the leagues of the Lisbon District Football Association .
