The Clube Futebol Benfica , mostly simply called Futebol Benfica , is a Portuguese sports club from Lisbon . It is in no way associated with its neighbor Benfica Lisbon .

The origin of the club goes back to the Grupo Foot-ball Benfica founded in 1895, which reorganized as a club under a new name on March 23, 1933. The home ground Estádio Francisco Lázaro is located in the Benfica district and is named after the Olympic marathon runner Francisco Lázaro .
